Katie Summerhayes and James Woods have finished off the season with spectacular results with Summerhayes claiming two silver medals in Slopestyle and Big Air and Woodsy taking silver in Big Air and 4th in Slopestyle at the AFP (Association of Freeskiing Professionals) World Championships in Whistler over the weekend.
Teammate Isabel Atkin had a tough time with the weather, but rounded off an amazing season with atop 10, claiming ninth in the Slopestyle competition
GB Park and Pipe’s Head Freeski Coach Pat Sharples said of the results: “Today was probably one of the toughest comps of the year as it was the last major AFP event and all the top dogs wanted to get a good result to finish the season. It was also challenging due to really mixed weather. The course was huge, with big jumps and no easy options, including no smaller jumps for the girls to use.

“Woodsy was on top form as ever, although made a couple of mistakes in the Slopestyle which cost him a podium place, but he still claimed 4th position. He then went out to ride consistently well in the Big Air. He landed a perfect switch right dub 10 octo grab which is his signature trick and a right side dub 12 blunt to earn him 2nd place.”
“Katie really stepped up in the women’s Slopestyle contest by putting in a K-fed on the top 10 metre rail and then into a 1080 japan on the first jump which also helped her secure her 2nd place in the Big Air too.”

“Isabel Atkin who’s had an incredible year couldn’t quite keep her run together today due to speed issues but she still placed in the top 10.”
