Steph looking fresh after 24 hours of travel!

I made it! A bit of a detour via Amsterdam and then Paris before finally making it to Beijing. BASI Snowboard Trainer, Steph Wiehe arrived just after me on Saturday 21st Nov. We were met by our BASI Business Partners in China, Byron, Beard and Qian who go by the name of CASSI Snowsports Services Company Ltd. The weather was best described as “dreach” in Beijing but the welcome certainly made up for it.
Here’s the Saturday itinerary along with some pics to prove I’m telling the truth!

AM: Chinese breakfast (it was early when we arrived and as we’ve now discovered meal times are sacrosanct in China). With full bellies there then followed a quick tour of downtown Beijing to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City (didn’t go in – there was a queue of Umbrellas that must have set a world record). We did however take in the Temple dedicated to Confucius in a beautiful Hutong in the old district before being whisked of to lunch at the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium! More serious food and an introduction to some key players….

PM: A three hour drive north out of Beijing to the city of Chongli (2022 Winter Olympic Host City) and my home for the next week (Steph’s for the next 3). More food before hitting the hay (not literally as I often had to on my 1984 trip) but a very plush apartment!
