Over 250 students are getting set to head off to some of the world’s top winter resorts to undertake their BASI ski/snowboard instructor courses. Winter gap season has arrived and there is plenty to look forward to. Not only will students be spending 8 to 10 weeks in resort with the prospect of skiing and boarding every day, BASI instructor training courses provide a fast track opportunity to so much more:

Students take their BASI Alpine or Snowboard Levels 1 and 2 Instructor Courses as part of the course and receive expert preparation training from top Instructors (all qualified to International Diploma standard or equivalent) prior to each BASI assessment course. Each year students from 18 years to 50+ years But, it’s not all just about the training. It’s about seeing new places, meeting new people and making friends for life as well as developing key life skills in communication, leadership and self-management. For many students it is the first time they will spend an extended period of time living independently outside the family home. The opportunities to network and meet like-minded people are fantastic and all the top level BASI instructors working today began their teaching careers with their Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications. The benefits don’t end when your course finishes. BASI works with a carefully selected group of BASI Business Partners who organise all aspects of the gap course. Each BASI Partner offers a course with key elements like the BASI assessment weeks but many offer valuable additional modules including; second language study, mountain safety courses and most importantly the opportunity to gain valuable and paid work experience on successful completion of the BASI Level 2 instructor qualification. BASI has aligned its instructor qualifications to the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework. This work has been done in partnership with the University of Edinburgh and your BASI course earns you valuable learning credits that may well serve you in further study at University.
